Whitney Horning:  Joseph Smith vs. Polygamy: The Raging Storm in Nauvoo
Joseph Smith was one of this world’s greatest Christian thinkers who laid a religious foundation that would revolutionize the whole world.  His audacious and unorthodox religion was a gift from God intended for all mankind.  Yet, God’s voice through Joseph has largely been silenced by the stain of polygamy. Honest seekers for truth disregard and discount Joseph’s marvelous message in part because they believe he was a liar, hypocrite, sexual deviant, and pedophile. You may be surprised to learn that Joseph espoused all the Christian values including monogamy. His labor to eradicate polygamy from his church set off a raging storm in Nauvoo and was a contributing factor in his murder. I invite you to consider the evidence that Joseph was faithful to the Lord's commandments and to his wife, Emma. By doing so, you may feel more confident in coming to know the Lord in a more personal and profound way by giving the teachings of Joseph Smith a chance to enlighten you and inform you.
